Cap Karma

This blog is set up for the cap making community of ladies at the San Francisco International Airport. The caps are for chemo patients and are donated to a local hospital. The hand made caps (knitted or crocheted) are a token of our prayers and well wishes for the recipient.

Sarawakense MK Hat

Here's my 6th hat for Cap Karma 2006-2007. I wanted to do a hat with a seed stitch decrease at the top. You can see pictures of the seed stitch top (plus another view of the hat) on my blog.

Woohoo! We have 17 hats made so far this year. Let's keep the caps coming ...

Hi,

I'm new to knitting or at least knitting shorthand. At the end of your pattern for this hat, I'm confused. Should I do 9 rows of seed stitch and then a row of K2tog, then 8 rows etc. ..

Sorry for the confusion, that was a pseudo-pattern or pattern outline, so instructions were not explicitly written out.

Seed stitch decrease: Seed stitch 9, K2tog; Seed stitch 8, K2tog; ... Seed Stitch 1, K2Tog; K2Tog.

What you should do for the decrease section is this:
Row 1: * work 9 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 2: * work 8 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 3: * work 7 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 4: * work 6 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 5: * work 5 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 6: * work 4 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 7: * work 3 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 8: * work 2 stitches in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 9: * work 1 stitch in seed stitch pattern, K2Tog *
Row 10: * K2Tog *

What is also not explicitly stated is that after you have gotten to this point, you need to cut you yarn -- leaving a long enough tail for weaving in ends -- and pull it through the last loop on your knitting needle. Now you need to weave in the 2 ends (one at the top of the hat, one at the bottom of the hat).

I should also note that instructions between the asterisks are repeated across the round.

Hope this helps.
